Vertical Farming

Found this while surfing the internet today. Vertical Farming is the brainchild of a Columbia University professor. It looks really interesting. The thought being that a skyscraper built only as a large greenhouse could provide locally grown produce and small livestock goods within an urban environment. The benefits are apparent right away-lack of shipping/transporting means less pollution; organically grown foods since there would be no exposure to insects and pests and a probably a few more that I can't think of right now.

BBC did a piece on this. I'm glad it's getting good press.
